Radar Detectors     Cheetah comes from Scotland and integrates radar detectors and laser counter measures along with its internal GPS system into one communication system, its mirror. The mirror fits over the existing factory mirror and informs the driver of red light camera locations, photo speed enforcement vans, alerts to radar and laser, and can eliminate false alerts after the allowed speed limits SpeedZoneshas been set. In our testing, Cheetah was interfaced with Beltronics STi, Valentine One, and Passport X50 along with Laser Blinder’s laser counter measure system via Cheetah’s Datalink feature. It’s a true system allowing interface with a multitude of devices. Its red light location matrix is easily updated by downloading current red light and speed enforcement locations world-wide. You can also manually mark locations. It solves the problem of putting both radar detectors and laser counter measures together without having multiple warnings blaring at your ears and eyes.
Tiger Lily Products, www.1-Radar-Laser-Jammers-Detectors.com also offers a system approach in combining various systems. Models include: PRS4-STi-Bel STi Driver with Blinder M45, PRS4-V-Valentine One with Blinder M 45, PRS4-i-Passport 9500i with Blinder M 435, and PRS4-E-Passport 8500 X50 with Blinder M 45. We tested many variants during our testing, TRS4STi with Bel’s STi and the Escort variant TRS4E. Both are coupled with Laser Blinder’s grill mounted transponders hidden in the grill of the Mustang. Tiger Lily’s System has one warning light conveniently mounted in the dash also eliminating multiple warning beeps and light arrays. It also solves the problem of coordinating multiple detection systems into one system. Both the Cheetah and Tiger Lily’s product tested extremely well and are awarded SML’s Performance Certification.Radar Detectors
On Sunday June 24 we conducted a long-range test with the cooperation of the Hudspeth County Sheriff’s Office some 100 miles east of El Paso on a nine mile test range we have used in past tests adjacent to Interstate, 10 mile post #117 to mile post #108. Subsequently, we looked at the performance of detectors brought by the manufacturers and compared their performance to those we obtained from retail sources. We found no variance in performance between the two. Officers also constructed real life speed traps to test the entrants. To test long range reception we used the most commonly found frequency in Ka band of 34.7 GHz, i.e. Stalker Dual, a MPH X band SpeedGun, and a K band Kustom Signals Inc handheld Falcon. We wanted to make sure the detectors correctly reported the band they were receiving and wanted to determine at what distance they detected each gun. The primary importance of such long range testing is for the radar gun makers and not the detector makers. Radar will never be used at nine miles to get you. Radar gun makers want to know how far radar detectors can detect their signal Detectors are getting better and better at detecting at long ranges. A new hand-held, low power radar gun has been introduced by Kustom Signals called the Falcon HR. During our test, officers compared the targeting range of the new low powered radar gun to its predecessor the Kustom Falcon. Indeed, the new gun had a shorter detection range by radar detectors and a shorter distance of capturing an Radar Detectorsapproaching vehicle. It consumes only 1/3 the power of the old gun. All detectors correctly identified the received frequency. SML neither condemns, nor condones the products it tests. All testing was in accordance with accepted police practice and trainin
